Dr. Thomas Krivak is the director of the division of gynecologic oncology and chief surgeon at West Penn Hospital. He has held a multitude of current and past leadership positions with the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and Gynecologic Oncology Group, including appointment to GOG’s Ancillary Data committee, Ovarian Cancer committee, and Developmental Therapeutics committee. He previously served on the editorial board of Gynecologic Oncology and Gynecologic Oncology Case Reports. Dr. Krivak is a decorated author with more than 100 publications in peer reviewed journals and countless oral and poster presentations at national meetings. He has 8 years of experience as a prior gynecologic oncology fellowship director prior to joining the division at Allegheny Health Network.
Dr. Krivak received his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at David Grant Medical Center/Travis Air Force Base. He continued his clinical training with fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. Krivak completed a research fellowship in the department of cell biology at the National Cancer Institute, in Washington DC. Dr. Krivak holds active board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Gynecologic Oncology.
Dr. Eirwen Miller is the associate program director of the gynecologic oncology fellowship program and serves as the Quality Officer and Medical Operations Officer for the Women’s Institute at AHN. She has served as the gynecologic oncology course director for the obstetrics and gynecology residency program for 3 years. Dr. Miller serves as an active site principle investigator for national and international collaborative group trials and has been an invited guest speaker for local and national meetings. She specializes in surgical management of malignancies involving the reproductive tract as well as chemotherapeutics and targeted therapies.
Dr. Miller is a graduate of University of Michigan and received her MD degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at UPMC, Magee Womens’ Hospital and fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Miller holds active board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Gynecologic Oncology.
Dr. Sarah Crafton is the director of the gynecologic oncology clinical trial program at AHN and serves as site principal investigator for national and international collaborative group trials at our institution. She is a select recipient of the 2022 NRG Oncology New Investigator award. Dr. Crafton is actively involved in medical education with an Assistant Professor academic appointment at Drexel University College of Medicine and serves as the director of the robotic surgery resident curriculum at West Penn Hospital. Dr. Crafton has been an invited guest speaker at both local and national meetings. She specializes in full spectrum care of women with gynecologic malignancies including surgical management, chemotherapeutics and targeted therapies, and end of life care.
Dr. Crafton completed both an obstetrics and gynecology residency and gynecologic oncology fellowship at Ohio State University School of Medicine. Prior to this, she received her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. Dr. Crafton holds active board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Gynecologic Oncology.
Dr. John Nakayama has a special interest in gynecologic oncology research and is actively involved at a national level. He has received grant funding for investigator initiated clinical trials and translational studies and is also interested in the application of artificial intelligence in gynecology oncology.
He currently serves as a member of the Clinical Practice Committee for the Society of Gynecologic Oncology as well as the Ovarian Cancer committee and Ancillary Data committee for NRG Oncology. He holds an Associate Professorship at Drexel University College of Medicine. Prior to joining the group at AHN, Dr. Nakayama was an Assistant Professor at Case Western University and was on faculty at University Hospitals of Cleveland. He has been an invited speaker at local and national meetings and is a recent co-editor of SGO’s Antineoplastic Therapy for Gynecologic Malignancies: 4th edition handbook.
Dr. Nakayama received his medical degree in his home state of Hawaii, at University of Hawaii John A Burns School of Medicine. He completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Duke University after which he completed his gynecologic oncology fellowship at the University of Virginia. Dr. Nakayama holds active board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Gynecologic Oncology.
Dr. Christopher Morse holds active board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Gynecologic Oncology. He is actively involved in medical education and serves as the course director for the gynecologic oncology sub internship rotation at West Penn Hospital. He specializes in management of gynecologic malignancies with considerations for surgical intervention, chemotherapy and other targeted agents, and end of life care. He received his medical degree from University of Pennsylvania after which he completed both an obstetrics and gynecology residency and gynecologic oncology fellowship at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
Welcomed in fall 2022, Dr. Alyssa Wield is the most recent addition to the gynecologic oncology faculty at AHN. Before joining the group, Dr. Wield completed her gynecologic oncology fellowship at UPMC, Magee Women’s Hospital where her research thesis focused on the role of a novel therapeutic agent targeting the MRTF-A/SRF pathway to induce ovarian cancer tumor cell quiescence using in vitro and murine models. She received her medical degree from Chicago Medical School and completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Wield has a special interest in surgical outcomes research, ovarian cancer, medical education and quality improvement.
